Citizens statement PDF to CSV or QBO

How to get Citizens statements out as PDFs, what Citizens already exports natively, and how to turn the PDF into a CSV or QuickBooks .qbo file that's checked against the statement's own balances.

Statement history online
18 months of statements in the Document Center; older ones by contacting Citizens
Native CSV/QFX/QBO download
Export to Quicken formats from online banking; small business Web Connect for Quicken and QuickBooks
Best use of a PDF converter
Citizens keeps only 18 months of statements in the Document Center. Download the PDFs before they roll off; once you have them, converting is how older months get into a spreadsheet or QuickBooks.

What Citizens says

Convert a Citizens PDF statement to CSV or QBO

  1. Download the statement PDF from Citizens online banking (see above). Use the downloaded PDF, not a scan or a phone photo.
  2. Open StatementHaul and drop the PDF in. It's read in your browser with pdf.js.
  3. Look at the result: Reconciled means opening + credits − debits equals the printed closing balance. If it doesn't, the first row that breaks is highlighted.
  4. Download the CSV or the .qbo file.

Importing into QuickBooks

QuickBooks Online's CSV upload accepts a 3-column (Date, Description, Amount) or 4-column (Date, Description, Credit, Debit) layout. [Intuit] StatementHaul's CSV has more columns (Date, Description, Amount, Debit, Credit, Balance, Page), so delete the extra columns first or map them in the upload step. The .qbo file is OFX 1.02 Web Connect with a generic bank ID. QuickBooks Online imports it under Banking › Upload transactions. QuickBooks Desktop is stricter about bank IDs and may refuse it, in which case use CSV.

StatementHaul's parser is generic: it reads standard text-based PDF statements by column position. We have not tested it on Citizens statements specifically. As of October 2026 it has been tested on 11 public sample statements (a US bank, two US credit unions and open-source test sets) plus 4 synthetic ones. Scanned or image-only PDFs are not supported. The balance check tells you on screen whether the rows add up to the printed closing balance, and a statement that fails to parse isn't counted against your free statements.
