Citi statement PDF to CSV or QBO

How to get Citi statements out as PDFs, what Citi already exports natively, and how to turn the PDF into a CSV or QuickBooks .qbo file that's checked against the statement's own balances.

Statement history online
12 months downloadable and up to 7 years viewable online for Citi cards; 24 months immediately in CitiBusiness Online, up to 7 years on request
Native CSV/QFX/QBO download
CitiBusiness Online: QBO, QFX, QIF, CSV and BAI for the last 180 days (not QBO/QFX for credit accounts). Citi cards: statement downloads in PDF, Quicken and Microsoft Money formats
Best use of a PDF converter
On CitiBusiness Online the direct QBO download only reaches back 180 days, while statements go back years. Anything older than six months, and any Citi credit account (no QBO/QFX), comes from the statement PDF. Requested older statements expire after 7 days, so save the PDF when it arrives.

What Citi says

Convert a Citi PDF statement to CSV or QBO

  1. Download the statement PDF from Citi online banking (see above). Use the downloaded PDF, not a scan or a phone photo.
  2. Open StatementHaul and drop the PDF in. It's read in your browser with pdf.js.
  3. Look at the result: Reconciled means opening + credits − debits equals the printed closing balance. If it doesn't, the first row that breaks is highlighted.
  4. Download the CSV or the .qbo file.

Importing into QuickBooks

QuickBooks Online's CSV upload accepts a 3-column (Date, Description, Amount) or 4-column (Date, Description, Credit, Debit) layout. [Intuit] StatementHaul's CSV has more columns (Date, Description, Amount, Debit, Credit, Balance, Page), so delete the extra columns first or map them in the upload step. The .qbo file is OFX 1.02 Web Connect with a generic bank ID. QuickBooks Online imports it under Banking › Upload transactions. QuickBooks Desktop is stricter about bank IDs and may refuse it, in which case use CSV.

StatementHaul's parser is generic: it reads standard text-based PDF statements by column position. We have not tested it on Citi statements specifically. As of October 2026 it has been tested on 11 public sample statements (a US bank, two US credit unions and open-source test sets) plus 4 synthetic ones. Scanned or image-only PDFs are not supported. The balance check tells you on screen whether the rows add up to the printed closing balance, and a statement that fails to parse isn't counted against your free statements.

Convert the PDF and check it to the cent
